VICTORY OVER SIN

The battle over sin, be it addictions, bad habitsfleshly tendencies, is rigged in our favor, we are bound to win

The primary name of God being Jesus in the new testament, there is a secondary( Colossians 1:15-16) name that is Jehovah Mekoddishkem – The Lord Who Sanctifies You.

God has always known that we might err and need help, and He assures us He can

Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. Exodus 31:13 NKJV

He can sanctify us, we can constantly pray for God to sanctify our thoughts, our hearts, it good to pray with word, since its a like a bank cheque that we can cash that promise from God Himself

Israelites were from Egypt, where there were strange Gods, strange practices, and He had to redeem them by the Blood first( smearing of blood on the doorposts), through water baptism ( crossing the red sea ) and through the Holy Spirit(Pillar of cloud and fire, these three are essential in beginning walking in the freedom Jesus purchased, we have been assured this by the Lord, Romans 6:14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

sin of all nature is so bad that even the best of us under the law could not overcome it, but the worst among us by grace can overcome it, this Grace overcame and crushed the power of sin.

but then despite all this, some still struggle with habitual sin, having temporary victories, not saying we won’t be tempted or be allured by sin, but it should not have dominion over us. Over the years, i have found this key to be true,

2 Corinthians 3: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

we see that sin seeks to be our Lord and master, but sin cannot be our master or have dominion over us if we do not give it permission, knowingly or unknowingly, most of us are here, some have been scarred from childhood traumas, breakups, and all manner of things, some even did not know how they get into drug and sexual addiction, a door was opened and the enemy took advantage, but then we can do something now.

James 4: 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We first offer ourselves willingly to the Lord through receiving his life through salvation, but we do not stop there, we continually and daily offer ourselves offer ourselves to Him, our thoughts, our plans, our hearts, everything.

Submission means to accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person. in greek, it is Hupotassō, meaning 1) to arrange under, to subordinate 2) to subject, put in subjection 3) to subject oneself, obey 4) to submit to one’s control 5) to yield to one’s admonition or advice 6) to obey, be subject

now back to this 2 Corinthians 3: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom., we see when we submit ourselves to sin and fleshly impulses, we are bound, but only in this one place , do we find complete freedom, being willingly submitted to the Lord, His Will, His word, allowing Him have His way in our lives and gradually the hold of certain things, if not all things will bow to His Lordship, there is complete victory purchased by our Lord Jesus on the Cross

PRAYER AND ACTION POINTS.

ACTION POINTS.

Write down or pinpoint areas of struggle, i.e., anger, unforgiveness, lust and so on, and look for a scripture that talk about that issue or that speaks about that area, and set your heart to do it, with that you can easily ask and pray for grace according to what the Lord says, the Word has power to clean and sanctify, coupled with prayer, the hold of the issue at hand loses its grip on us.

Eph 5: 26 26to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, Isaiah 1: 18 18“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will become like wool. James 1:21 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls. 22Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Colossians 2: …14having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross! 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. 16Therefore let no one judge …

It is one thing to hear the word and believe in it, it is another to act. Any sin that comes across the word must bow
