What groaning can do for you.

Did you know groaning is a prayer language the lord listens to and answers? Did you know the Holy Spirit also groans for us to see the will of the father is met in our lives? Did you know that creation itself daily groans for us, for it is in bondage and it is waiting for the sons of God to manifest, at least so that it can be liberated. This is why Jesus said go preach to all creatures. You don’t have only man to liberate but also creation in Jesus name. And finally, did you know we are not exempted in this groaning until our mortalities are swallowed up by life? I welcome you to journey with me in this matter as we seek out the truth in God’s word.

The best language you can learn to speak is the language that the holy spirit is speaking.  In “Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.’’ Jesus never did anything unless he saw the father do it, now that we know the holy spirit is groaning for us, we need to imitate him and do as he is doing, speaking in tongues as the spirit gives us utterance is a realm in the spirit beyond our understanding. There are higher realms than that, realms where no utterance is given. This is what we are calling groaning.

From scriptures many people groaned, and the lord answered them. One of them being David, many times he groaned in prayer, groaned in his thoughts, groaned overnight, and the bible says that the lord heard him, at times he delayed but David kept waiting. See psalm 22;1, psalm 6;6, psalm 55;2 psalm 55;17. You can groan in a murmuring or complaining tone, in the new covenant that we are in, it doesn’t do you any good for we are commanded not to complain but give thanks in all circumstances. The best thing to do is to seek the will of God on things we should be groaning on because that is exactly why the holy spirit is groaning. I thank God for his will is plainly stated in his word.

As I was studying the book of 2 Corinthians, I came across a chapter that Paul was talking about we ought to be groaning. I couldn’t remember the last time I had groaned. My question to you today is the same as I asked myself that day. When was the last time you groaned in your spirit, in your thoughts or you just groaned?  “For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 2 Corinthians 5;2’’ Paul is talking about we groan and not we shall groan… In our generation if the lord counts those that are groaning for something from him, shall we be counted among the number?

Later in 2nd Corinthians 5 Paul explains why we need to groan. He says is so that we cannot be found naked. Could you be clothed but still naked? The clothes Paul is talking about here aren’t the physical clothes we put on daily since the fall of Adam. They are the clothes Adam was covered with before his fall. In verse 4 Paul says if we are burdened and groan then we shall be covered by life and mortality shall be swallowed up by life. While in this body I have struggled with many things, have struggled with sins and works of the flesh to the point I have agreed with Paul it is better to absent from the body and present with the lord. But for the sake of my assignment and ministry I am willing to wait here longer, and with the promise that my mortality can be swallowed up by that which is immortal the deal even becomes better.

It is possible to taste the powers of the ages to come, it is possible to even live and operate in them. Paul assures us that we shall be clothed with immortality as we groan, for we have been given the Spirit of God as a guarantee. It is beyond my mind imagination to have my mortal body (which daily struggles with God) swallowed by my promised immortal body and still have a chance to dwell in this land of the living. This just puts the hunger in me to groan even more every moment I get bearing in mind this is going to lead to the redemption of my body. See “romans 8;23 Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.’’

Yes, our bodies can be redeemed, this clay shall be transformed and all creation will see it. One verse before romans 8;23 we see creation groaning and travailing in pain for us, because they know our redemption means their redemption also. Knowing that the holy spirit is groaning for me in heaven and creation all around me is doing the same, why would I not join the harmonious groan that is going to yield much, and result to the will of God being done?

“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you to Egypt, acts 7;34’’ it was the will of God to see his chosen nation Israel inherit the promised land as revealed to their father Abraham, it was not until they got tired of oppression and groaned with cries that the lord came down to their rescue. We cannot be exempted from the same too, the lord is more than willing to clothe us with Christ but it is up to us to get tired of being naked and do our part, groan, for our promise. This will bring the almighty down here on earth and he shall wrap himself around us and we shall be hidden in him, clothed with him again. He is the life, the eternal life that swallows our mortality.

In whatever we do to see this come to pass, whether fasting, praying in understanding and in spirit, singing, crying or however the spirit leads us may we not forget to look at what he is doing (groaning) and do exactly that.

Let us groan!
