How long will this Lust Last?

Lust, why has it lasted this long? Why doesn’t the Lord just take it away? I have cried, I have promised
the Lord this will be my last time succumbing to it. Why does it taste so sweet in my mouth and bitter
after indulging in it ? why do I feel dirty? Why doesn’t the Lord take me before I sin against Him again?
Why do I enjoy momentary victory and fall back into it? The same habits? Why does the fasting and
prayers not deal with it? Why does the many sermons not help me overcome? Why do I break my
resolutions so fast? Why do my efforts bear no fruit? .Why does it seem I am helpless when I face Lust?
Why does it last?
So many questions, few answers. Where does lust begin?
In the garden of Eden we see God give Adam and Eve permission to EAT of any tree except the tree of
the knowledge of life and death, but we know what happened a verse later, they ATE and they sinned.
Is there anything wrong with eating? didn’t God tell them to eat? The nature of sin, in this case lust is
that we have a healthy appetite for sex given to us by God for procreation and intimacy to be solely
used in the context of marriage alone, but as we know, the enemy corrupts these healthy appetites
God gives us and thus it turns to sin, and sadly addictions, where one gets hooked to certain habits or
things. We have a been given an appetite to eat, but when this appetite is abused and misused, it
leads to gluttony. Most of us had our introduction to sex the way, through pornography, childhood sexual abuse, Hollywood movies, exposure to those engaging in sex in an inappropriate way (because sex is
beautiful when enjoyed in the confines of marriage), being lured into sexual activities by those older
or even our peers, there are many more examples that I haven’t mentioned, but we can agree most
of these introductions left somewhat a negative impact on us. Some of us had sexual urges in our
adolescence and none talked to us or sat us down to explain what is happening to us , our bodily
changes, our attraction to the opposite sex, then some of us started exploring and discovering this
new realm of sex pleasure which in turn has some in a bondage that will last a lifetime. The Bible
talks of fleeing youthful lusts in 2 Timothy 2:2 , they are every where especially in our generation. The mind, is the breeding ground of this menace called lust, we have constantly fed it with junk, with
information and have formed certain appetites from the afore mentioned ways, hardly any young
person can stay a whole day without having lustful thoughts, wrestling with past images and past
experiences, thinking of how God is wroth with lust and how helpless they are. Is there hope? Is there
freedom? Are the testimonies of those set free from lust or addictions as a result of lust a fable or
fairy tale? Lets see what Jesus came to offer, I believe this will bring an end to the circle of
defeat, cycles of guilt, fear, disgust and regret.
It is finished!
In John 19:30 , Jesus said it is finished, Jesus here was on the cross bearing the sins of the world, after
three days, He resurrected and this has a significance, the cross has a significance. We mostly hear
people during an altar call repeat a prayer and “give their life to Christ” which is sincere and has been
in use for many years, but the truth is that in salvation, we receive the life of Christ which He gave on
the cross, we are literally transformed we begin a walk in the Lord. If we truly understand the power
of the sacrifice of Jesus, we would have an easier time dealing with lust and sexual sin, Christ gives us
His life, His Spirit to us and we enjoy and draw strength from Him, with this life of Christ is enough
power to break us free from addictions , habits, tendencies, if we know that we can be transformed
daily through the finished work of the cross. The cross offers one sentence ,death, and when lust encounters the cross, it dies. (Galatians 5:24)
The reason why lust persists in some believers is that they pamper it, they entertain it, which in turns
results into falling into sin. When we have a lustful thought or when you feel you are overwhelmed by
this sensation to fall into sexual sin, right there and then, kill it by quoting the word of God, calling on
God to clean your mind or heart, don’t wait for the thoughts to take you to the point of no return, the
Lord cannot ignore desperate calls for mercy. With that said, we also need to understand that lust has taken time to build and the body has been conditioned to respond to it in a certain way, even so some
can have triggers by what they see, hear or touch, but there is good news, we don’t have to be slaves
of lust. Matthew 11:28-30 speak of those heavy laden with burdens to come to Jesus to have rest, so we are
assured of rest in Jesus. Here is the process we can go through to overcome lust:
1. Be willing
In the process of overcoming lust, we must have had enough of lust and its false promises, lust
promises pleasure but offers pain, guilt, regret, disgust and death. God cannot deliver you if you are
not willing to be delivered. In Matthew 20: 30 -34 we see the two blind men plead for mercy, they
willing to be healed, even more, they were tired of being blind and begging when there was one who
could heal them, are you tired of being a slave to sexual sin?
Prayer: Acknowledge your willingness to be set free . 2. Know that God is able and willing to set you free
God almighty displayed His love on the cross showing us at what length He is willing to bring out our
freedom from the bondage of sin. Even more we can see Gods track record from the Bible days till
today, many prostitutes, thieves, rapists, murderers , exotic dancers, pimps, junkies, the vilest and
worst of men and women be transformed by the Lord. There is no present case of addiction God has
never dealt with, such that we have a cloud of witnesses who have gone before us who have
triumphed over sexual sin, there is hope, your case is not unique or special. Jesus Christ, our priest
was tested in all things yet was without sin ( Hebrews 4:15) , it is He who dwells in us, it is He who is
our strength, we truly have an advantage over sexual sin. Prayer: Thank God for He is able and willing to set you free
3. Close the door to the enemy
Open doors have always given the enemy an opportunity to bring us down through temptations
hence the need to close certain doors. You may ask how did a open a door to the enemy? We have
gateways to our soul, eyes, ears, nose, mouth and genitalia, anything that happens through this
channels can leave a lasting impression on us and form habits and preferences, these doors are God
given, but if any of them are opened to any filthiness and sin, addictions form. Do you remember
watching that pornographic film, hearing that song glorifying fornication, reading erotic literature, pressure from friends to experiment, curiosity to explore, being introduced to sex willingly or
unwillingly by an adult or peer, these are memories we don’t want to remember because of the
bondage that has kept us perpetually bound in the cycle or repentance, making a decision to stop and
falling right back in it. Prayer: With your own words acknowledge how you participated in opening certain doors to the
enemy through the gateways of your soul, genuinely repent for opening those doors and offering
yourself to serve that sexual sin ( mention it or them by name before the Lord, take your time being
open and broken before the Lord), lastly ask the Lord to close those doors such that the enemy wont
have access to them as he used to. 4. Transformation
We often hear preachers make altar calls and ask people to give their lives to Christ, in which there is
some truth to that, and the one who made that decision is saved. But what really happens during
salvation? The popular verse, John 3:16 speaks of us believing and having eternal life, doesn’t
mention about us giving, but it does mention about us receiving life, when we are convicted of our sin
and repent, we receive this new kind of life, which quickens us who were dead in sin and made us sit
with Christ in heavenly places ( Ephesians 2:4-6). When we are transformed, we have a new
nature ,we loathe sin, we love righteousness. We are encouraged by Apostle Paul to be transformed
by the renewing of our mind ( Romans 12:2)
Prayer: Acknowledge your need to be transformed and ask the Lord to continually transform you
through His Spirit, and through His word. ( James 1:21)5. New heart and new mind
The heart and the mind are the seat of our actions and we are influenced greatly by these. Our minds
and heart are meant to be pure and transformed and thus reflecting Christ likeness in our lives. Transformation is happening constantly keeping us from the filthiness of the world. Our hearts and
minds are corrupted by constantly opening the gateways to our souls to sexual perversion, and this in
turn makes it harder for us to maintain purity in our thoughts , imaginations and actions, it seems that
no matter how pure we want to be , a well of sexual thoughts and imagination springs from our
thoughts and mind. Is there hope? Yes, there is hope! God is able to give us a new heart and clean
our minds. Once we have renewed mind and a new heart, we longer give in to the fleshly impulses
and our hearts are pure towards both God and man( both men and women). Here are some
scriptures that we can meditate and pray with as they touch on a new heart, and a cleaning or
renewing of the mind ( 1 Samuel 10:9, Ezekiel 36: 25-27, James 1:21, Isaiah 1: 18-20) Our minds are
continually renewed by feeding on Gods word, which shapes how we view sex, view ourselves, view
God, view things and this will change our appetites and desires, we start seeing the wonders in God, the true riches in Christ, the joy of salvation, the power in Jesus Christ, our position in Him, our
inheritance through Christ Jesus, if you will have had your appetite for sin changed, let your appetite
for righteousness and the kingdom become stronger!
Prayer: Ask God for a new heart and for Him to cleanse your mind from all filthiness, mention them
before the Lord, it is good to be specific what you want cleansed. Ask the Lord to help you with
developing new appetites and a hunger for His kingdom, ask the Lord to show you the wonders in
Christ, His joy, His peace, His righteousness, ask Him to show you the riches in Christ Jesus in which
after seeing you will truly hate sin and pursue Him and all that is in Him. 6. Dependency on God
In this journey you will have moments of vulnerability and you might be tempted to go back and have
a taste of sin again, but at this point you would have weighed the wages of sin and the benefits of
righteousness, and we are told there is ongoing battle in every believer ( Galatians 5: 16-17) but we
don’t have to give in to the demands of the flesh. If you are having a moment where a certain person
or situation can trigger you to fall into sexual sin, don’t entertain it, speak out the word of God to
counter it, resist it, if you are very vulnerable, plead for mercy, remember Peter could have drowned
if he kept his mouth shut, don’t keep quiet, don’t entertain sin, don’t pamper it and feed it. In God is
enough strength to overcome any sin, any temptation, any trigger. If a certain mental image pops us
in your mind and reminds you of sin, ask the Lord to take it away, does a certain scent, sound, sight, touch, trigger you? The Lord is willing to walk you through it, help you overcome, involve Him in
every step, challenge, moment of weakness, glorify Him when He helps you overcome. Isaiah 40:29, He gives strength to the weary and increases power of the weak. Prayer: Thank God for He is always dependable. Don’t struggle with sexual sin while you can triumph over it, sexual sin cannot be your master, there is
only one Lord and His name is Jesus Christ, He destroyed the power of sin, only Him we have
complete victory

Bible verses on holiness

Our second series of topical bible verses the Holy Spirit led us to fast and seek his whole
counsel on holiness. We were amazed to see what the lord is up-to with the church. Producing
sons and daughters who are exactly as he is. Peter reminds us of the old command “Be holy for I
am holy.” God never gives us standards to live by that he hasn’t provided the grace to lead us
there. Nothing is ever by our strength and or might, it’s all by His Spirit..
Personally I was disturbed and convicted for I am falling short of the expectations of our lord.
But bearing in mind it’s a journey I have hope that he can do it, nothing is too hard for him and
he never sends his word in vain, it surely fulfills all that he desires before returning to him. This
is one of the reasons I believe His will will surely come to pass. We have one who is able to
create a pure heart in us if we can make that prayer and believe it’s possible. We can never
sabotage the move of God, if he can’t get a holy nation of priest and kings in our time he surely
can raise another. May your will come to pass lord in my life. Be blessed as you go through this
scriptures bearing in mind there is no condemnation for all that are in Christ Jesus, only
conviction.
How I pray for all who are willing to journey in the school of the Holy Spirit to be clothed with
a teachable spirit and not miss their shifting from glory to glory as the lord prepares noble
vessels that are going to serve in His next great move on earth.
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything
that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God

VICTORY OVER SIN

The battle over sin, be it addictions, bad habitsfleshly tendencies, is rigged in our favor, we are bound to win

The primary name of God being Jesus in the new testament, there is a secondary( Colossians 1:15-16) name that is Jehovah Mekoddishkem – The Lord Who Sanctifies You.

God has always known that we might err and need help, and He assures us He can

Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. Exodus 31:13 NKJV

He can sanctify us, we can constantly pray for God to sanctify our thoughts, our hearts, it good to pray with word, since its a like a bank cheque that we can cash that promise from God Himself

Israelites were from Egypt, where there were strange Gods, strange practices, and He had to redeem them by the Blood first( smearing of blood on the doorposts), through water baptism ( crossing the red sea ) and through the Holy Spirit(Pillar of cloud and fire, these three are essential in beginning walking in the freedom Jesus purchased, we have been assured this by the Lord, Romans 6:14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

sin of all nature is so bad that even the best of us under the law could not overcome it, but the worst among us by grace can overcome it, this Grace overcame and crushed the power of sin.

but then despite all this, some still struggle with habitual sin, having temporary victories, not saying we won’t be tempted or be allured by sin, but it should not have dominion over us. Over the years, i have found this key to be true,

2 Corinthians 3: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

we see that sin seeks to be our Lord and master, but sin cannot be our master or have dominion over us if we do not give it permission, knowingly or unknowingly, most of us are here, some have been scarred from childhood traumas, breakups, and all manner of things, some even did not know how they get into drug and sexual addiction, a door was opened and the enemy took advantage, but then we can do something now.

James 4: 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We first offer ourselves willingly to the Lord through receiving his life through salvation, but we do not stop there, we continually and daily offer ourselves offer ourselves to Him, our thoughts, our plans, our hearts, everything.

Submission means to accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person. in greek, it is Hupotassō, meaning 1) to arrange under, to subordinate 2) to subject, put in subjection 3) to subject oneself, obey 4) to submit to one’s control 5) to yield to one’s admonition or advice 6) to obey, be subject

now back to this 2 Corinthians 3: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom., we see when we submit ourselves to sin and fleshly impulses, we are bound, but only in this one place , do we find complete freedom, being willingly submitted to the Lord, His Will, His word, allowing Him have His way in our lives and gradually the hold of certain things, if not all things will bow to His Lordship, there is complete victory purchased by our Lord Jesus on the Cross

PRAYER AND ACTION POINTS.

ACTION POINTS.

Write down or pinpoint areas of struggle, i.e., anger, unforgiveness, lust and so on, and look for a scripture that talk about that issue or that speaks about that area, and set your heart to do it, with that you can easily ask and pray for grace according to what the Lord says, the Word has power to clean and sanctify, coupled with prayer, the hold of the issue at hand loses its grip on us.

Eph 5: 26 26to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, Isaiah 1: 18 18“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will become like wool. James 1:21 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls. 22Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Colossians 2: …14having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross! 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. 16Therefore let no one judge …

It is one thing to hear the word and believe in it, it is another to act. Any sin that comes across the word must bow

PRAYER

THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOR IN YOU AM SAFE AND SECURE,IN YOU IS FREEDOM. LORD I REPENT FOR WILLINGLY SUBMITTING MYSELF TO SIN AND TO SERVE THE LUSTS AND DEMANDS THEREOF, I WILLINGLY CHOOSE TO BE SUBJECT TO YOU, AND IN THIS LORD YOU PROMISE ME FREEDOM, IN THIS ALL THE CHAINS OF SIN SHALL BE BROKEN, YOU PROMISE TO GIVE US NEW DESIRES, GIVE ME A DESIRE TO SEEK AND PURSUE HOLY AND PURE AND HEAVENLY THINGS, TAKE AWAY THE LOVE AND THE TASTE FOR SIN AND ITS PLEASURES, LET THEM BECOME DETESTABLE TO ME, LORD CREATE IN ME A NEW AND PURE AND PERFECT HEART, RENEW MY MIND, LORD , CLEANSE ME FROM ALL FILTHINESS , LET THE POWER AND ALLURE OF SIN BE PERPETUALLY DEFEATED IN MY LIFE, LORD IS CHOOSE TO WALK WITH YOU IN PURITY AND FREEDOM, HELP TAKE PRACTICAL STEPS AND MAKE CHOICES THAT WILL KEEP ME FAR FROM SIN AND OVERCOME ANY TEMPTATIONS EVEN AT VULNERABLE MOMENTS. THANK YOU FOR THIS VICTORY AND MY COMPLETE FREEDOM FROM ANY HOLD OF DARKNESS, IN JESUS NAME, AMEN

Why is sexual purity so important to God?

God designed sexual intimacy for a husband and a wife, for both procreation and pleasure.  Through ages, the devil has managed to deceive people into different sexual perversions such as homosexuality, lesbianism, masturbation, bestiality and orgies. The devil knows that this is one of the easiest ways to trick the human mind out of the ways of God because it involves pleasure.

God views sexual intimacy as a sacred act between a couple. God made man in his own likeness. He compares the relationship between Christ and the Church to the relationship between a man and his wife. When we worship God and trust in Him fully, we are committed to serving Him with all of our belongings. In many instances, God referred to idolatry as adultery. God instructed the prophet Hosea to marry an adulterous woman just to demonstrate how hurt he was by the act of idolatry.  The more intimate we get with God the more fruits we bear and the more our love grows. Sexual intimacy serves the same purpose in marriage.

What happens when we engage in sexual intimacy outside marriage?

Our bodies are vessels. They are temples of the Holy Spirit. Man is a spirit and the body is just a vessel that carries the spirit. The physical man has desires that defile the spirit in us. When you engage in sexual intercourse with someone else, your spirits are also joined in the act. The more sexual partners you have, the more you are tied to a lot of spirits. Gen: 2:24 A man shall leave his parents and be joined to his wife and they shall become one flesh. When you defile your body, which is a temple of the holy spirit, He leaves. When the Holy Spirit leaves us, the devil gets a chance to fight us. This becomes a tough moment and we begin to slide back into sin. The Holy Spirit is our divine help and the moment he leaves us we become helpless. Our prayers become empty chantings and we eventually lose the hunger for God and the strength to pray.

What about masturbation?

Over time the devil has deceived humanity into using other methods and object of pleasure to ‘help’ themselves. He has made sex look like a basic necessity while it is not. He has tactfully used the entertainment industry as well as technology to popularize masturbation. This is not the way God intended it to be. Sex begins in the mind. The devil first tricks your mind into entertaining sexual content such as pornographic films. He then makes you feel as if masturbation is not a sin because there is no other person involved. While other people may not know it, God sees even the sins we do in private. Masturbation is a sign that you have not completely died to the flesh and the spirit of lust still manifests in you.

It is disheartening to see that today’s Christians have embraced gay homosexuality and lesbianism in church. The word of God allows us to call out sin with love and show others the right path. In Genesis 19, we see God destroying Sodom and Gomorrah for this sin. This shows that God deeply recents this sin. God designed sex to be between a husband and a wife.

Is there forgiveness for those who have already defiled their bodies?

Our God is merciful and he forgives those who repent their sins and commit their loves to God. There is no sin too great to exhaust the grace of God.

CIRINTHIANS 6:9-11.

In Galatians 5: 19-21

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

5:20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions

5:21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

We see that lust is one of the manifestations of the work of the flesh. As mentioned earlier, the body of a human being is just a vessel that holds our spirit. If the Holy spirit is not in us, the devil takes advantage of our emptiness. For this reason, it is important to involve men of God in case we are unable to free ourselves from sexual sin. Addictions are generally difficult to quit but it is possible. It is a struggle to regain freedom from this sin. The Lord Jesus Christ left us power and authority to cast out every demon.

Is it possible to live a pure life?

It is certainly possible. Some people have the gift of celibacy and they can live a chaste life.

Revelations 14:4

These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as first-fruits to God and the Lamb.

The above scripture shows us that it is indeed possible to completely abstain even from marriage and serve the Lord. It is also assures us that sexual purity is important to God. This is not to mean that marriage is a bad thing. It is in deed a beautiful thing and God created sex for the purpose of procreation.

As Christians, we need to preserve our bodies for the works of the Holy Spirit. One of the ways to do this is by abstaining from sexual activity until we are married. Contrary to popular beliefs, your chastity is not a gift to your partner, it is obedience to God. It also saves you from a lot of sexually transmitted diseases that weaken your immunity and defile the temple of the Holy spirit further. It is the will of God that we may prosper in all our ways.

Bible verses on anger.

Bible verses on anger.

We strongly believe in a matter is established where there are two or more witnesses. This is the same way we are to discern the principles of our lord that we are supposed to be walking by. The Bible never contradicts itself for the the Holy Spirit is not an author of confusion. If you want to gain mastery in any field the Bible reminds us if you strive lawfully, dominion is yours. We are not perfected yet but that’s the journey we are on, the lord put in our hearts to seek his whole counsel on matters where the enemy is oppressing us and also on virtues we would want to instill in our spirits.

This first articles on topical verses is the first of many to come in the near future, we tried to garner as many scriptures as we could on the topic of anger. We believe anger is is not of the fruit of the spirit but a door the enemy is able to access in our lives through and divert our walk in the spirit to that of flesh. As you go through this scriptures  may the Holy Spirit minister to you and if you are not set free in this field be expectant to be liberated by the truth you are about to encounter.. We are not the generation that perishes for lack of knowledge for we are not ignorant people.

The lord bless you and give you victory over this work of the flesh. If you come to the realization of scriptures touching on anger that we might have missed out it will be a great honor if you can add them in the comment section and we shall be delighted to keep updating the list for the edification of the body of Christ. Also feel free to suggest what we should tackle next in our future articles

Than with a contentious and vexing woman.

Titus 2:2

Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.

Leviticus 19:17-18

‘You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.

Colossians 3:21

Fathers, do not provoke your children into anger,, so that they will not lose heart

Proverbs 21:14

“A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a reward concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.”

Ecclesiastes  7:9

keep your anger under control, it is foolish to harbor a grudge.

proverbs 25:28

If you cannot control your anger, you are as helpless as a city without walls. Open to attack.

spirit of jealousy
Look out, for the spirit of Jealousy

In order to serve in the body of Christ and bear good fruits, we must overcome the works of the flesh and let the spirit reign in us. Only God can help us do so by giving Him our all without holding back.
Galatians 5:19-22 gives a good contrast of the fruits of the flesh and those of the Holy Spirit.

Jealousy is one of the obstacles that believers should overcome completely in order to serve God. Jealous is the feeling of envy or covetousness of someone’s perceived achievements or possessions. When you are jealous, you begin to think that someone else is more advantaged than you are in a certain area and you are not happy about it. Why are we strongly warned against jealousy?

Genesis 4. The first death on earth occurred out of jealousy. Cain was envious of His brother Abel, whose sacrifice pleased God. Cain probably thought that by killing Abel, God would have no choice but to accept his offering. Unfortunately Cain ended up cursed. Instead of killing his brother, Cain should have sought after his brother to learn why his sacrifice had been accepted while his was rejected.

1KINGS: 21
Jezebel had Naboth killed so that her husband could acquire the beautiful vineyard owned by Naboth. Jezebel was an idol worshipper and had no reverence of the Almighty God. Jezebel also ended up curse and so was Ahab and His children.

Exodus 20:17
The 10th commandment warns against coveting you neigbhor’s property.

Jealousy is a tool that satan uses to distract Christians and he knows that it is very effective. Having been an angel of God, he was jealous of the power of God and wanted everything to himself. His jealousy saw him kicked out of the kingdom of heaven and now roams around bitterly on earth looking for believers to deceive.

When you let jealousy mislead you, you cease to see the wonderful things that God has done for you. Jealousy and malice work in tandem. When you are jealous of someone, you always find a way to bring them down. You may do this by speaking words that could hurt their reputation or sabotaging their effort in everything they do. Jealousy drags you back into sin and prevents you from growing spiritually.

Our gifts should work together for the good of the body of Christ. Caption this; the first four books of the New Testament all give an account of the life of Jesus Christ. While Matthew starts by proofing the lineage of Jesus, John starts by quoting the book of Genesis and sounds more like an eye-witness. All the writers gave an account of the life of Christ as lead by the spirit and in different styles. None of the writers is less than the other.

Equally, can your finger be jealous of the hair, or the hair jealous of the stomach? All the body organs work together, each created for a specific purpose. So are we in Christ. We focus on our purpose in Christ as we grow spiritually. The more we focus on him, he increases us even in material wealth. If we lose focus and begin to pull each other down, we inhibit growth.

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Jealousy corrupts the purity of heart. God blesses those who are pure in heart and uplifts them like he did with David.
Sometimes we miss God’s blessings simply because our hearts are filled with envy. If we take jealousy to the altar, we risk destruction of our own works.

Rejoice with other members of the body of Christ when they achieve great things. Mango trees and orange trees all bear fruits but in different seasons. When your season has come, you will bear fruits in plenty.

How, do we overcome jealousy?

As earlier stated, it’s only God that can help us overcome the spirit of jealousy through the Holy Spirit. It is important to read and meditate upon the word of God every day. This will help us renew our minds and re-align our thoughts with the will of God. The word of God is a seed. When we plant it in our hearts we need to cultivate and take care of it so that it grows and bears good fruits.

It is also important to practice the art of congratulating those who are ahead of you and those who achieve great things. The will of the devil is that he distracts you and blinding you with jealous. He knows too well that it is the nature of men to always want more and to be recognized. God wants us to have a spirit of contentment. Contentment does not mean that you are not focused. Instead it shows that you are happy with what you have as you wait for God to move you to the next level.

The greatest commandment of all is love. We are commanded to love our neigbors as we love ourselves. We cannot claim that we love God if we do not love those that are around us. Equally, we cannot claim to love God or our neighbors if we are jealous of what they have or what they have achieved. We must always see the good in others just as God sees us.

The fruits of the Holy Spirit work together in us to overcome the temptations of the flesh. We therefore must completely surrender to God and let the Holy Spirit take control so that we are able to overcome the temptations of the flesh. We are helpless on our own. Let us therefore, work to make sure that our minds remain conscious to sin, that we may strive to be just as Christ. Temptations will come but it is the will of our father that we are able to overcome.

As our Lord Jesus taught us to pray, “ lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil.” We trust God to deliver us from all evil and temptations for the glory if His name.S

The Baptism with the Holy Spirit

As a young believer myself, I often heard the minister call, people, to receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit, and I often wondered what it meant, couldn’t wrap my mind around it. I also recall seeing people indulge in glossolalia (speaking with other tongues), and how strange and insignificant it sounded to me, didn’t need that, so I thought.

Years passed by and I was invited by a friend to a youth Kesha, after the praise and worship session, the pastor asked anyone who wanted to receive the Holy Spirit to come forward, a few people made their way to the altar, and so after giving it a thought, I have nothing to lose; I said within me, and so I made my way to the altar. The pastor came laying hands-on people and all would fall under the power of God, for me I didn’t know what to expect. He came near me and touched me; I fell under the power, couldn’t help it, and he encouraged us to speak in the language we felt coming from our being, and the first words I uttered still resound in my mind as clear as day, felt nothing, no electricity no nothing, there is a reason I am saying this and will address this later. As uninformed as I was on the Holy Spirit and who He was, I was disappointed, I was ashamed of the tongues because to my finite mind, it sounded “childish” and all I could attach to the Holy Spirit was tongues and nothing else, so from that day I suppressed this tongue, I remember wishing someone had taught me about the Holy Spirit, why He is important and so on. One fateful Sunday, as our senior pastor asked those who could speak with other tongues to speak during a church service, I remember restraining myself and looking around and holding myself from speaking, and I felt the peace that I had left, I felt empty, I knew I had grieved the Holy Spirit, the emptiness I felt couldn’t be compared to anything and hunger was stirred in me to search the scriptures on the Holy Spirit. God sovereignly led me to a friend’s house who had a book on the Holy Spirit, the baptism with the Holy Spirit, and testimonies on how the Holy Spirit helped them in life and ministry, unfortunately, the book was severed and I only had a chunk of the book, and that’s all I needed to get me started. As I was done reading the book, we had a session at a discipleship class and the teaching was on the Holy Spirit, what a coincidence! I was excited, and as the lesson came to a close, he gave an instruction, that we study the chapters of John 14, 15, and 16, and also the book of Acts chapters 1 and 2, adding that we didn’t need anyone to lay hands on us, that we could ask by faith and receive.

All this while the Holy Spirit hadn’t left me, I just needed refreshing of the Holy Spirit, and so that Monday armed with scripture and the book on the Holy Spirit began to ask for a refreshing, I did repent for grieving the Holy Spirit by not fully embracing Him as a good and perfect gift from God. I expected something to happen, my heart was open and nothing happened, I went through my day and when the night came, I wondered why Wasn’t refreshed, I decided to retire to my bed, couldn’t sleep, and in my desperation and hunger, God does it now! It was cry and immediately I felt like a liquid was poured on my head and surges of electricity flowed through my body, I broke forth into a new language, this language was more clear, I could hear every syllable, it was an actual language, I was immersed in God’s presence for a whole week, this verse describes what I experienced  Songs of Solomon 3:4 Scarcely had I passed them When I found him whom my soul loves, the Holy Spirit was no longer a thing, I could get to know Him, I became more aware of His presence, such awe of God came upon me, I abhorred sin, I only wanted to please God, such an intense hunger for God’s word and the need to pray came upon me, I passionately began to seek the Lord. This marked the beginning of the pursuit of intimacy with the Lord.

I have shared my testimony to show the Lord’s faithfulness, and with that said, my testimony is not the yardstick to receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit, it’s to show if God could do it for me, He can do it for you. Let’s do a brief study on this topic.

What is the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

We have had many denominations and many beliefs in the Christian circle on the baptism with the Holy Spirit, some say every Christian with the Holy Spirit during conversion, others believe it happens after conversion, others believe in a clear manifestation of the baptism with the Holy Spirit, while others believe that the manifestations of the baptism with the Holy Spirit as the early church had such as tongues, prophesy and gifts of the spirit ceased with the apostolic age, I believe it’s safe for us to stick with the written word.

The word baptize comes from the Greek word “baptizō” to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk), just as we conduct water baptisms by immersion in water, so does this word suggest we are immersed with or in the Holy Spirit.

Once we repent of our sins and believe in the Lord Jesus, we are indwelled with the Spirit, receiving the life of God in our spirits which were once dead due to sin, (Eph 4:30, Eph 2:5) no one can become a child of God without the Holy Spirit dwelling in them (Romans 8:9), the Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13) we are buried with Christ during water baptism (Col 2:12, Romans 6:4) and we are baptized with the Holy Spirit by Jesus Christ Himself! (Luke 3:16, Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8). What a joy to see that all these revolve around Jesus Christ our Lord and savior.

The promise to Abraham

Genesis 17: And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Genesis 22:18

And through your offspring, all nations of the earth will be blessed because you have obeyed My voice.”

Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it is but a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no man disannulled, or added thereto.16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to seeds, as of many; but as of one, and to thy seed, which is Christ.

God had promised to give the gift of the Holy Spirit to the seed of Abraham, and through Christ, we are qualified to receive this promise.

Do I need the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

Our Lord Jesus while on His earthly ministry mentioned to His disciples on the coming of the Holy Spirit (John 16:7, John 14:26, John 14: 16, John 15:26,), the disciples had already believed in Jesus, they even performed miracles, raised the dead, cast out devils in the name of Jesus (Matthew 10: 8, Luke 10:9), meaning even they received the baptism with the Spirit, but they still needed to receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth

Luke 24: 49 “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.

We can see that there is no question that every genuine believer in Jesus Christ is indwelled and sealed with the Holy Spirit just like the disciples, and we see them still needing to be filled with the power from heaven to be effective in their assignment. We can see in the old testament Kings, Priests, Prophets, and judges have the Holy Spirit come upon them temporarily until the task is completed and then He leaves, for us He will be with us forever. ( (Num. 11:17–25, Deut. 34:9Judg. 3:106:341 Sam. 16:1–14)

The Holy Spirit Comforts (John 14:18), empowers (Acts 1:8), advocates for us (John 14:16, Romans 8:26-28) reminds us Gods Word (John 14:26), reveals to us the things to come (John 16: 13), sanctifies us (1 Peter 1:12)

Who can receive the Holy Spirit?

Acts 2: 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the [k] remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Joel 2: “And afterward,

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

your old men will dream dreams,

your young men will see visions.

Even on my servants, both men, and women,

I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

 Isaiah 55:1 Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;

John 7: 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those [g] believing in Him would receive; for the [h] Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Psalm 107:9 For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, And the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes would take the water of life without cost.

Acts 11: 15 “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with[a] water, but you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit.’ 17 So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was Ito think that I could stand in God’s way?”

Acts 10: 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues [b] and praising God.

We can take a few pointers on who can receive the Holy Spirit.

  1. Anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus
  1. Anyone thirsty for the Holy Spirit

We can also address some misconceptions on receiving the Holy Spirit through these scriptures.

  1. It’s not for the “Holy” or the “super saints and the super-spiritual”, it’s a gift! We don’t earn receiving the Holy Spirit baptism.
  1. I have done too many sins; I can’t receive the Holy Spirit. It’s not our righteousness that makes us right with God, but the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Romans 5: 8But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! 10For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! …

Isaiah 64: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness’s are as filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 3: Even the righteousness of God which is by the faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Ephesians 2: 8For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not by works, so that no one can boast.…

  1. I will lose control, He can make me do things Don’t want We have seen how some have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fell, or screamed, or rolled on the floor in a way that denotes loss of control, I cannot explain these occurrences except allude to the assumption that some either are being set free from bondage, I can’t account for that, but this I can assure you, the word doesn’t show us people fall, or scream or lose control, in the upper room there was order, the disciples didn’t fall or scream, whether these accounts of people “losing control” happens or not, let’s choose to stick with God’s word on this issue. The Holy Spirit is Gentle. I too had an experience, felt a liquid poured over me, I felt electric surges all over my body, that can happen to anyone, experiences can be valid, but the word remains as our standard, not other people’s experiences and encounters.

What happens when you receive the Holy Spirit?

Acts 2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and spoke with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 8: 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:15 Who, when they have come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

This shows that there was a piece of initial evidence known to all that one had received the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

We can even before the outpouring in Acts 2, the Holy Spirit came upon some temporarily, and was expressed vocally,

Luke 1:  41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb

Luke 1: 67Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:

We can see how the Holy Spirit found expression in Zechariah and Elizabeth, a vocalization or a proclamation is showing one has received the Holy Spirit.

Acts 19: Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues [b] and prophesiedThere were about twelve men in all.

Now that we have got this far, we see how God gives this gift freely to those who believe.

Why haven’t I received the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

Many are on the verge of giving up or question the authenticity of their faith In Jesus Christ and the Love of God towards them after not receiving the baptism with the Holy Spirit despite asking for a long time and also having people lay hands on them. My word of encouragement to you is that you still a child of God, heaven-bound, you authority in Jesus name, you are not any less than those who have received the Baptism with the Spirit, the only thing is that you have not yet been endued with power to be more effective in the walk with the Lord, Jesus Christ had to be anointed with the Holy Spirit too despite being born of the Spirit (what happens when we repent of our sins and believe on the Lord Jesus)

Acts 10: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil because God was with him.

Here are some of the impediments to receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.

  1. Wrong belief on the baptism of the Holy Spirit because of wrong teaching that is not founded on God’s word.
  1. Involvement with the occult, Wicca, occult games such as tarot cards, Ouija boards, using horoscopes, etc. If you have done so in the past, repent and renounce involvement with the occult.
  1. Unforgiveness impeded one from receiving the Holy Spirit.

By this far, I believe some of you can feel a burning in your heart, the Holy Spirit bearing witness to this writing, now let’s pray and receive the Baptism with the Spirit.

Let’s point out these few truths before we proceed.

  1. It’s Jesus who Baptizes with the Spirit.
  1. It’s for everyone who believes.
  1. You shall receive power, Jesus is assuring us of this possibility, Jesus is so meticulous that he counted the 120 heads in the upper room and not one missed!
  1. Don’t let fear paralyze you, begin proclaiming God’s word and promises, fear is brought about by the doubting of the ability and faithfulness of God, He is able, He is powerful, He is willing!

Jeremiah 32: “I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

And He promises this, Psalms 34: 7Take delight in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

John 14: 13And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.…

  1. Jesus’ prayers are always answered

John !4:16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever

John 11: 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

  1. God is a good father, better than the best earthly fathers

Luke 11: “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give splendid gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

7.He is not a man either, He doesn’t go back on His word, especially not concerning His children, such as you are.

Numbers 23: 19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

  1. God’s love is undeniable

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

  1. He knows you by name

Isaiah 49:15“Can a woman forget her nursing child or lack compassion for the son of her womb? Even if she could forget, I will not forget you! 16Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;

Prayer to receive the Holy Spirit.

(You can with your own words powered by the understanding the simple lesson we have gone through, it will happen)

For those who need further help, let’s pray.

THANK YOU JESUS FOR THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, IHAVE SEEN HOW INEED THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HOW YOU QUALIFIED ME TO RECEIVE THIS PROMISE, BAPTIZE ME WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, FILL ME UP TO OVERFLOW, LET LIVING WATERS FLOW FROM MY BELLY, SURRENDER MYSELF HOLY SPIRIT, FILL ME TO OVERFLOW.

(you can sense God inside you, surrender and worship God, speak that new language that comes on your lips, don’t stop, continue speaking that language or prophesying as the Holy Spirit enables you)

What you have just experienced is not from the devil

Luke 11: Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? it’s not from your head

1 Corinthians 14: For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful

1 Corinthians 12: Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

It doesn’t end here with the baptism with the Holy Spirit, we need constant refreshing of the Holy Spirit

Acts 4: 31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

The apostles were refreshed with the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5: Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit

Pray in the spirit often

I Corinthians 14:  14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit,

1 Corinthians 14: For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a] does not speak to people but God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

Jude 1: But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

Continually seeking more intimacy

Colossians 2: As you, therefore, have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding [d]in it with thanksgiving.Beware lest anyone [e]cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [f]bodily10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all [g] principality and power.

2 Corinthians 13:14

Secrets of shinning your light at your workplace.

Working close to or over 40 hours a week for a good part of your life is a hill high enough for you to stand on and shine the light of the lord. I know many have ever asked themselves how can I be a light to my coworkers as the Lord expects of me? If this is you, then you are at the right place. Having a job where I have to spend over 1/3 of my day with people who don’t know God, knew God a long time ago, or even don’t want to know him isn’t somewhere you want to cower under your shell of faith. Humans constantly influence each other, and logically for most of us think odds aren’t on our side.

I would pray the same prayer Elisha prayed for his servant; “may he open his eyes to see that more are they that are on our side than them that are theirs.” If Jesus is in you, then you have the backing of heaven. It’s your willing to be used by the lord that is going to make sure you are not influenced by your colleagues but instead, you will draw them to the kingdom. Jesus advised as you are out there, be as wise a serpent yet as humble a dove. It’s by this humility and obeying the skillful leading of the holy spirit that will guarantee even more results.

A lot of times, as Christians we are pushed against the wall in a lot of matters in life but unless we ask ourselves “what would Jesus do” in the situation we have no clue what to do then there might not be so much hope for us. The holy spirit act as a reminder to pull what is written in our hearts and give us that divine wisdom in time of need. Apostle Peter when advising employees on how to relate with their bosses said in 1St Peter 2;18 “Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate but also to those who are harsh.” It reminds us we all have one master in heaven, Jesus Christ, so it doesn’t matter if you are a master here on earth or not. What we need to do is know what is expected of us in the lord and do exactly that, for he rewards and punishes justly.

As we serve our employers or masters here on earth, we always ought to do so as if we are doing it for the lord. It’s difficult submitting to a harsh boss who is not considerate at all but as Christians, our language should always be, ‘ not my will but your Lord.’ Jesus gave us a good example of suffering for sins he committed not. We are called to walk in his suffering so that we can earn the entitlement of sharing in his glory. Our small cross being our workplace peter in other scriptures in the same chapter goes in-depth to explain how our endurance to suffer for wrongs we didn’t commit earns us an eternal reward not mentioning it makes our light in Christ shine brighter.

We are asked to never pay evil with evil, but with good all the time. This is one virtue which we as a Christian should never compromise.. There are a lot of good opportunities to shine your light through such an action such as if you have a secular job, or even if you live in this beautiful world of god… At times your colleagues will provoke you into a bad attitude or anger, it’s for your glory to overlook an offense as Solomon puts it. At sometimes words that will surround you aren’t words to exhort or glorify God, but words filled with filthy language that shouldn’t fall from lips the holy spirit uses to bless others with. May your fountain stay undefiled by not letting out any offensive or abusive word that will stand against you in the day of judgment.

Subtle ways you can use to fuel your light to shine brighter and longer are things like rocking a t-shirt or hoodie with bible inspired phrase or something promoting the kingdom. A popular forefather of faith went by the slogan, “if it advances the gospel, use it,” I endorse. Another keyway to shine your light is to be the least, just as our master Jesus was. Be a servant of all, go out your way to help a friend. Stay up late to assist the new hire with his project, smile all the time, check on colleagues, don’t underestimate even the small talk. People open up slowly.

Pray for and cultivate friendships with your colleagues. It’s okay to hang out occasionally on your days off. Assist a colleague with a home project, invite a friend to a church special service. Try to build a friendship where they can share their problems, ask for prayers, or pray for them if they don’t. Look for opportunities to share your testimonies to build their faith. We overcome by the blood and the words of our testimonies. Testimonies go a long way; they even shake kingdoms of darkness.

Don’t forget you are also a human. Be real to your coworkers. God hates hypocrisy. If you make a mistake, don’t cover-up. Admit, repent, and be hopeful to be forgiven. We can learn something from David lusting, committing adultery, murdering, and then taking someone’s wife. If we will not break the chain of sin, it will never be able to end. And most importantly also give credit where it’s due. Instead of joining your friends in tearing down the lazy coworker and attacking the mean Team lead, appreciate one another. Thank a brother for help given, tell a sister how much of a backbone she is to the team. It’s by these small things that travel deep into our spirit, stirring the goodness in us for every man craves to be complimented again and again.

I know we can’t exhaust ways the holy spirit can use to help us shine our light just as we can’t limit him to only the above-discussed ways. We are unique for a reason, discuss with brothers and sisters in faith ways that have worked for them or failed as you encourage one another and open up to the holy spirit for he never runs out of new secrets for every situation.

The lost virtue of Integrity.

As Christians everyone expects from us to walk and shine our light to the world just like our Lord Jesus Christ did. We are often faced with challenges that require us to make decisions that uphold our integrity as Christians or conform to the ways of the world. Our true character is revealed when we are at liberty to do whatever we want, and the environment allows us to do so. With this information, we would therefore ask, “what is integrity?”

Integrity is the quality of having strong moral and ethical principles that one follows at all times even when nobody is watching. This means you are the same person in private and public. You do not change your character. You, therefore, portray the same virtues in church, at work, at home, and with friends. A person with integrity is gracious, trustworthy, hardworking, responsible, patient, and keeps promises.

This does not mean that one is perfect, but we strive to be at our best. Our minds are keen on maintaining these virtues at the same time. For example, given a choice, anyone would want to take a nap or skip a day at work especially when you know the boss is not around but is that the right thing to do? When working with an intern, one would feel tempted to burden them with all the work instead of helping them learn more. It would feel right with the excuse that you are helping them learn more, but is that right? To uphold our integrity, we need to often think about how we would want to be treated if we were in the other person’s position.

It is wrong for a Christian to respect his/her pastor and disrespect members of the church or other people outside the church. Every person is God’s creation, and they deserve respect. Equally, God expects you to act right in and out of the church. God is everywhere. You should therefore do right according to his word even when no one is seeing you. He sees in the dark and He knows the meditations of our hearts.

Matthew 5:14-16 We are the light of the world and that means we shed light on non-believers. We show them the way in doing right. In all our ways, we need to show the true values of Christianity. One of the biggest challenges that many Christians face is honesty in business and paying tax when no one is watching. We are tempted to trade our goods and services for more than we should and pay less tax than we should. We feel justified by the tough economic times. While other people may not know, our God in heaven is watching. In Matthew 22:21 we are commanded to obey our legal duty of paying taxes. As Christians, we need to honor the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What about in a family set up? Our integrity is first tested in how we treat members of our family. We are expected to be kind and loving towards each other. In the same way, you cannot shout at your boss at work, do not raise your voice at those you live with. Help each other out with chores. Be patient with one another. In this way, we help the young children grow up holding close Christian values. In a nutshell, we can say that integrity is about ‘being real’ in the Christian faith. Living right with God. Doing what pleases Him.

Our Lord Jesus lived according to the teachings he taught. He treated sinners with the same love that he treated his disciples. He defended a sinful woman from being stoned to death. He also allowed a sinful woman to wipe his feet and anoint them. He washed His disciples’ feet during the last supper. He treated children with the same compassion as he treated adults. In his ministry, sinners were as important as believers and he wanted them to see the light.

The opposite of integrity is hypocrisy. In his ministry, our Lord Jesus taught against the hypocritical behavior of the Pharisees. They were more concerned about their image in public. They taught things that they barely followed, and they were keener on destroying the ministry of Jesus. They craved public recognition more than they wanted to do the right thing.

How can you tell if you are a person the upholds integrity?

If three different people from your family, workplace, church, and random friends were asked to describe who you are, would their description of you be the same?

How can we improve on our Christian integrity?

Reading the word of God daily and allowing it to make a change in our lives helps us uphold our integrity. We cannot uphold Christian values without the help of God. We need to understand what is expected of us through bible study and prayer. We also need to develop the discipline to do the right things even when we are tempted to do the wrong things. Make a list of the virtues that you have a problem upholding. Make sure you look at them every morning. Ask God to help you uphold them. Look at the list in the evening while meditating upon them. See if you have made any progress.

Let us therefore strive to do the right as the Holy Spirit guides us. We cannot live right on our own but when we surrender to God, He gives us the grace to overcome challenges and temptations.

Hangout with seasoned destiny helpers.

These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.”-‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭11:10‬ ‭

When the lord releases a prophetic word towards your future, Next to none are the times you will get to your destiny alone.
You will need destiny helpers and men whose destiny is either partially or fully connected to your destiny.
Men willing to give of themselves to see the prophecy come true.
Pray for such people before you even see them and open your eyes as you trust the lord to do the connections at the right timing.

In David’s scenario he had 3 men that stood out to the extent they could risk their lives just to see his desire met.
One day he longed to have drink of water from a well which was by the gate of Bethlehem and this men broke through the host of the philistines just to get David a drink. ( see 1 chronicles 11:17-18)

It will be to your great blessing if God can put such men into your life.
Men ready to put their lives into jeopardy just to see you are okay. (and is this not what we see In Philippians 2:3,4) “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

In another instance is when Jesus tells us that greater love is a friend ready to lay down his own life for a friend… John 15.13

But whenever we are blessed with such men may we not take them for granted but contain the humility that we still see in David.
“…and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord, And said, May God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it…”‭‭1Chronicles‬ ‭11:18-19‬ ‭”

It is evident that David had a great and honorable relationship with his destiny helpers.

Not many would be this selfless, to either risk their lives to meet the desires of another or say No to a desire met through the risking of another’s  life.

On your way to fulfill your purpose the devil will strategically put stumbling blocks that are meant to either delay you or kill your destiny.

When you are busy fighting your Saul there are other enemies you will need your close associates to battle for you.

In that line of thought,  let us look at : “Jashobeam( 1 chronicles 11:11) in one time he lifted his spear and slayed 300 men, or Benaiah who the Bible tells us he did very many acts including slaying two lionlike moabites, killing a lion in a pit when it was snowing and also battled a giant Egyptian. 5cubits high(= 2.29meters/7.5 feet) who had a spear but Benaiah was able to snatch it from him and slay him with his own spear. ”

If you look at “1 chronicles 11:10- 47” there are plenty of heroic examples of the mighty men who went out of their way to help David.
The Bible from Genesis to Revelation is full of battles everyday, same case is your life from beginning to the end.
Some battles you might never see them or experience them for God’s angels battle them for you. But when you are busy walking up to your destiny you need people who can daily intercede for you to strengthen those angels, you need people who can fast with you until you see the next result on your path manifest.
You need a good relationship with your mentors and fathers to watch over you and guide you.
May we not deceive ourselves that we can slay Saul, the lion when it’s snowing, the giants and also the 300men all by ourselves.

And most importantly we need Jesus, we need a close relationship with him, a daily one. The goal being him to take over the wheel as we enjoy the back seat for he is the one who wants and is able to do everything for us. He wants us to die to self and live by the slogan to live is Christ. And he is also the same person who will bring your Jashobeam, Benaiah and your other destiny helpers/ guiders for if he doesn’t do it, it’s a sad truth to embrace, it can’t get done.
